The international strategy laid out as follows shall guide the University's international activities for the duration of the 3rd medium-term plan by taking into account such qualitative/quantitative goals as specified in the "Top Global University Project," and other important official documents published of late by the University of Tsukuba.
In order to strengthen our global presence, we realize that we need, in addition to a conventional "internationalization" strategy focused on calibrating our institutional practices into global standard, a set of 'international' strategies which should enable us to compete with other world-class universities in the race for talented researchers/students and external funding.
To promote our internationalization and to strengthen our global presence, we hereby set our goals as follows:
【Goal-1】 Strengthen the competitive edge of the University as it befits a world-class university.
【Goal-2】 Provide quality education that meets global standard and professionals who would be able to compete globally.
【Goal-3】Recruit talented students from all over the globe as a university open to the world, as our founding philosophy states.
【Goal-4】 Engage in cutting edge researches that seek after the truths in a whole host of fields and aim to apply research results to society at large.
【Goal-5】 Reach out to our external stakeholders by strategically publicizing outcomes of our education, research and governance reform, and raise our global reputation.
【Goal-6】 Drive globalization efforts of Tsukuba Science City as its core institution so as to enhance the reputation of the City as whole, together with that of the University.
We set our regional strategies as follows:
【Goal-7】 Make optimum use of our overseas offices so as to implement our international strategy, support education and research collaborations, recruit talented students, and establish and expand the overseas alumni network.
【Goal-8】 Identify our regional advantages, optimize such advantages by taking into account the history of the University's international activities, our access to a wide variety of resources including our overseas offices.
