College of Nursing Implements "JST Sakura Science Exchange Program" - Invites Nursing Students and Faculty from Ghana

From February 2nd to 8th, 2025, College of Nursing conducted the "JST Sakura Science Exchange Program," inviting five nursing students and two nursing faculty members from Ghana. This program, focusing on the relationship between food culture and health, provided an experiential exchange to learn about Japan's advanced education and research techniques in the nursing field. It is a continuation of our ongoing international exchange in nursing from the previous year.

The program included experiences such as observing nutritional management practices and sampling hospital meals at University of Tsukuba Hospital. Participants also learned about seasonal meals in long-term care facilities for older adults. Furthermore, lively discussions between our students and the invitees deepened their understanding of food and nutrition through reflections on differences in food culture and nutritional considerations. This resulted in a meaningful exchange.

We are aiming to further promote such international student exchanges to enhance the globalization of our nursing students and contribute to the international society.
