University of Tsukuba Malaysia Opens in Kuala Lumpur
The University of Tsukuba Malaysia opened in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur on September 1, 2024. This is the first case that Japanese university launched its overseas branch campus awarding Japanese degrees.
On September 2, a signing ceremony was held in the presence of Minister of Higher Education (MOHE) Malaysia YB Dato' Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir in the morning. Afterwards, the opening ceremony and entrance ceremony were held, attended by representatives from both Malaysia and Japan, Mr. YBhg. Dato' Dr. Haji Megat Sany bin Megat Ahmad Supian, Deputy Secretary-General of MOHE, Malaysia and Mr. YANO Kazuhiko, Senior Deputy Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Japan, Mr. TAKAHASHI Katsuhiko, Embassy of Japan in Malaysia.
Yang Berbahagia Dato' Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini bin Ujang, Secretary-General of MOHE rushed to the press conference and joined the Deputy Secretary-General, President NAGATA for interviews session.
At the opening and entrance ceremony, President NAGATA Kyosuke delivered the following address.
'It is thanks to all of you who have contributed to the establishment of the University that we are able to celebrate today's opening ceremony. I would like to express my deepest gratitude.'
He also expressed his determination to contribute to society by developing human resources who can contribute to solving global issues facing Malaysia and neighboring countries through practical education based on transdisciplinary education in the bachelor's program by a comprehensive university.
