Peru Ambassador to Japan Visits President NAGATA
On February 26, 2024, H.E. Mr. Roberto Seminario, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Peru to Japan, visited our Tsukuba Campus and had discussions with President NAGATA Kyosuke, Vice President/Executive Director IKEDA Jun (Global Affairs), Executive Officer OHNEDA Osamu (Director-General, Bureau of Global Initiatives), Director SAKURAI Takeaki (Office of Global Initiatives), Associate Professor KOGANEZAWA Tadachika and Assistant Professor FUKUSHIGE Mizuho, both of whom serve as Deputy Regional Managers for South America, Professor Emeritus OSONOI Shigeo, Associate Professor Yabar Helmut (Institute of Life and Environmental Sciences), and Assistant Professor Sandoval Felipe (Institute of Medicine).
During the discussion, our initiatives in Peru were introduced, such as the "Study in Japan Global Network Project (South America)," for which we were appointed to implement by MEXT, and exchange activities between Peruvian schools and our university through the JST Sakura Science Exchange Program, among others. Then, they exchanged views for promoting these activities in the future.
On the same day, the Ambassador attended the opening ceremony of the JST Sakura Science Exchange Program, where he encouraged participants, high school students from Peru, with warm words.
Further collaboration between Peruvian institutions and our university is anticipated.
