Global Village Summer Festival is Back
Students Dancing Bon Dance in a Circle
On July 26, a summer festival was held on the patio of the Global Village.
This festival started in 2018 when all Global Village buildings were put into operation to promote exchanges between international students and the Japanese students who reside in the Village and for the international students to experience Japanese culture and customs. However, due to the pandemic of COVID-19, the event has not been able to hold in the three years from 2020 to 2022.
This year, in addition to Global Village residents, Short-term Exchange Students who reside in the Short-stay House and Ukrainian students joined the festival to deepen exchanges.
The festival featured performances by student clubs, such as "Bon Live," a chance to make an uchiwa (Japanese paper fan) and wear a yukata (light cotton kimono) by "Ask Us Desk," fair games such as water yo-yo fishing, sparklers, and cotton candy making, and about 300 students enjoyed the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese summer festival.
The festival was co-hosted by the University and the Daiwa Lease Group, the outsourcing management company of the Global Village.
