Ukrainian Ambassador Visits President NAGATA and Holds a Lecture

On April 24, Dr. Sergiy Korsunsky, Ambassador of Ukraine to Japan, and his delegation visited President NAGATA Kyosuke and other administration members at the university. They had discussions with Vice President IKEDA Jun (Global Affairs), Vice President KATO Mitsuyasu (Education), Vice President HOMMA Miwako (Student Affairs), Director SAKURAI Takeaki (Office of Global Initiatives), Director NOMURA Nakao (Office of International Exchange Support), Director USUYAMA Toshinobu (Ukraine Student Support Team), and Assistant Professor Anna Bogdanova (Institute of Engineering, Information and Systems). The discussions covered the current situation and future prospects for Ukrainian students studying at the university, contributing to the reconstruction of Ukraine, and fostering human resources to serve as a bridge between the two countries.

During the lecture entitled "History, Culture, and Current Situation in Ukraine," which was held for the university community, the ambassador spoke about the devastating war in Ukraine and its impact on the country's people, culture, and future prospects. About 100 faculty members and students attended the lecture.

After the lecture, the ambassador attended a discussion session with about 30 Ukrainian students studying at the university. The ambassador also visited the Empowerment Studio and Cyberdyne, the latter of which was established by Professor SANKAI Yoshiyuki of the Institute of Engineering, Information and Systems. At the Empowerment Studio, the ambassador experienced a virtual reality space and received an explanation of the studio's activities, while at Cyberdyne, the ambassador learned about medical robotic suits and other related technologies.

The university will continue to work towards contributing to the reconstruction of Ukraine through education and support for Ukrainian students, and hopes that Ukraine will regain peace as soon as possible.
