Ukrainian Students Meet Vice Presidents

The University of Tsukuba has accepted 42 Ukrainian students as Exchange Students and Research Students by the end of March 2023. The purpose of this special program is to support students who wish to continue their studies and research in the midst of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

Prior to the start of the spring semester of the 2023 academic year, the University held a meeting on Wednesday, April 12 with the accepted Ukrainian students and Dr. KATO Mitsuyasu, Vice President for Education, Dr. HOMMA Miwako, Vice President for Student Affairs, Prof. OTA Kei, former Vice President for Student Affairs, and other related faculty members. The meeting was a significant opportunity for Ukrainian students from various Schools, Colleges and Graduate Courses on campus to meet and exchange views.

The Vice Presidents and faculty members gave advice on how to prepare for studies, based on their own experiences, and encouraged the students to develop friendships at the University and become familiar with Japanese culture. They also expressed their hope that the students would use their experiences in Japan to contribute to the reconstruction of their home country in the future.

The participating students expressed their gratitude for the warm support of the University and the people concerned.
