Holding of the 46th University of Tsukuba Spring Sports Day
The 46th Spring Sports Day was held on May 14 (Sat.) and 15 (Sun.) at the Tsukuba Campus.
Since the first Sports Day was held in 1977, soon after the University of Tsukuba was established, it has been held twice a year for two days each in spring and fall, and more than 10,000 students, faculty members and staff enjoy playing sports together. As the Sports Day Student Committee, many students, including new first-year students, planned, prepared, and managed the event while paying maximum attention to infection control measures.
Unfortunately, it was raining on the morning of the event, but the weather gradually improved, and the event featured kickball, futsal, tennis, and orienteering outdoors, and basketball, soft volleyball, dodgeball, and e-sports indoors. The student committee organized boccia, strike out, speedball, survival games, kick target, kehaigiri, free throws, and bubble football, while the student clubs organized classrooms and open practices for extracurricular activity groups. The participants enjoyed sports with their friends with smiles.
Although the event had to be held under various restrictions to prevent COVID-19, it was successfully completed thanks to the cooperation of all participants and the smooth operation of the Sports Day Student Committee.
