The 4th "Collaboration of Word and Culture" Event Featuring Rakugo and Traditional Japanese Music

The 4th "Collaboration of Word and Culture" entitled "Enjoy the art of storytelling with international students" was held in Global Village on the 29th of November 2018.

This project has been conducted since about 20 years ago, related with a study for effective support to promote the Japanese unique art of storytelling to the world.

We were honored by a rakugo performance and a traditional Japanese music performance for foreign students by the Rakugo performer Master Kyounosuke Yanagiya and the traditional Japanese music performer Master Kogiku Yanagiya. By the assistance of translations and illustrations using PowerPoint, Japanese language beginners enjoyed the performance. Many international students remarked that they enjoyed the experience. On the other hand, there were comments from Japanese participants that they found out again that there are the many things the Japanese did not know, and the importance of telling international students Japanese culture, and its difficulty.
