Korean High School Students Make a Study Tour at the University of Tsukuba

A group of 16 high school students accompanied by two teachers from the South Jeolla Province (Jeollanam-do, south-west of Korea) Educational Committee and the Gwangju National Science Museum visited the University of Tsukuba from February 19 to 23. They visited the university as part of the Nobel Project, which send students who aim to be scientists to universities abroad.

On the first day, they attended the university's campus tour given by the Office of Public Relations, and visited the Central University, the Center for Computational Sciences, and the Gene Research Center.
On the second and third day, the students were divided into four groups to participate in biology experiments held at laboratories of the College of Biological Sciences and the Gene Research Center.
On the fourth day, they took a tour of the specimen room at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Tsukuba.

On the last day, they visited the International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine (IIIS). They received a briefing on IIIS by Director Masashi Yanagisawa, and attended a workshop at the institute.

While it was a short period of time, students in the four groups wrote great experiment reports. A lively question and answer session ensued among the students after the talk by Director Yanagisawa.
