On September 30, the commemorative ceremony was held at the Tsukuba International Congress Center to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the University of Tsukuba.

The guests of honor included Mr. YASUE Nobuo, a parliamentary official on behalf of the Minister for Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, former Prime Minister of Malaysia, and Dr. Yassine Lakhnech, President of Université Grenoble Alpes in France. In addition, a video message was shown from former President ESAKI Leo on the 50th anniversary of the Nobel Prize in Physics (1973). Also in attendance was Tsukuba City Mayor Mr. IGARASHI Tatsuo, a graduate of the university and a local resident of Tsukuba City.
