Subject |
"Neuronal cargo transport by multiple carriers like a MIKOSHI (portable shrine) transport" |
Summary |
Motor proteins, such as kinesin and dynein, deliver cargos packed with many kinds of materials including neurotransmitters along highway-like long axons. Our research shows that cargos were carried cooperatively by multiple motor proteins, much like a group of people working together for a MIKOSHI (portable shrine) transport for Japanese festivals! We found that increase/decrease of the number of the carriers was related to neuronal diseases.
