President Nagata heads delegation to Khon Kaen University in Thailand

On August 27th 2017, President Kyosuke Nagata participated in a symposium held at the Khon Kaen University (KKU) in Thailand.

In October 2016, the University of Tsukuba concluded an international academic exchange agreement with KKU. In February 2017, President Kittichai Triratanasirichai of KKU visited Tsukuba and signed an agreement between the medical departments of both universities, hence, strengthening the partnership.

In the symposium, both universities discussed their current activities and future developments in education and research exchanges in the fields of agriculture, medicine, education, and information & media. A Letter of Agreement was signed to officially declare a strategic partnership between the two parties to support human resource development through education and research in CLMV (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam) countries.

On the same day, President Nagata also participated in the opening ceremony of the University of Tsukuba's Center for Research on International Cooperation in Educational Development (CRICED) -- Khon Kaen Office in the premises of KKU's Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession (IRDTP) for ASEAN. Dr. Maitree Inprasitha, IRDTP Director and Dean of KKU's Faculty of Education, together with Dr. Masami Isoda, CRICED Director, have been collaborating using Khon Kaen's geographical advantage to further develop Japanese education methods in ASEAN countries.

The members of the university delegation included: President Kyosuke Nagata, Vice Executive Director Yoshiaki Sato (Global Affairs), Director Osamu Oneda (Office of Global Initiatives), Prof Masami Isoda (CRICED Director), Prof Yuji Hiramatsu (Faculty of Medicine), Prof Shigeo Sugimoto (Faculty of Library Information and Media Science), Associate Prof Nakao Nomura (Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences), Assistant Prof Keiko Sugimoto (Faculty of Medicine), and Mr. Masatoshi Yokose, Manager of the Office of Global Initiatives.
